Is Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) becoming somewhat of a powerhouse online? After UFC 86 took place tonight, Google Trends blew up with people searching for the results of the competition with a majority searching specifically for the winner of the "Rampage" Jackson vs. Griffin match. (Sherdog results!)
I know money makers like Shoemoney are all over the MMA scene with sites like Fighters.com and usually when the big dogs start something, there is a pretty good chance it could take off or already has.
Personally, MMA does nothing for me and I'd rather watch a big time boxing match, but to much of the rest of the world, MMA is "it". MMA sort of reminds me of NASCAR and will probably conitnue to grow exponentially in the next few years only to level off once they feel they may be too big for their britches.
This is an interesting niche to watch as the sport and its fans become more "mainstream" and legit. For more UFC results, take a look at ESPN's coverage which is also starting to take off.
