For the most part, sports bloggers do not have access to teams and players. That is starting to change a little bit, but the sad reality is that we are forced to the TV, the radio, and the internet to find sources, to find ideas for posts, and to find the things we want to discuss.
My question for all of you is where do you go for sports information?
My entire days are basically filled with sports programming of one sort or another. Generally speaking my day starts with ESPN’s Sports Center and by the time I have my first cup of coffee in me and I have made my way to my office I have my Sirius radio on the NASCAR channel to hear the latest news and notes, and sometimes just to get some fan reaction.
After several hours of school, writing, and researching I am ready for a break and I tune into Jim Rome is Burning, Around the Horn, NASCAR Now, and sometimes Pardon the Interruption. Some of my habits change frequently as I can get PTI in pod cast form.
As you can tell my main job is being a NASCAR writer and is the sport I know best. I read the best NASCAR site out there on a daily basis, www.jayski.com. (This is without doubt the finest place on the net for NASCAR news.) I also read NASCAR Scene which is the premier magazine for the industry that comes out weekly.
On any given day I read three newspapers, the USA today, the Detroit News, and the Chicago Sun via e mail. This keeps me up to date on the sports world in my neck of the country, and on the national sports scene in general.
For the 17 days of the Olympics I have also added www.nbcolympics.com to my daily morning briefing. That is to keep abreast of medal counts and TV programming.
The most difficult job of mine is writing for Sports Business Digest. Each day I must find a compelling Sports story with a business twist. My new favorite source for this is www.forbes.com as they do a great job of breaking down a ton of financial information for just about every sport on the planet. There I can get detailed breakdowns of what teams make, how they make it, and on average, what a sports team does with its revenue.
Granted I am a sports junkie, and my job is all about sports, but it is important that all of us bloggers find credible sources for information so that our blogs become credible. Just a little note, if you are using wikipedia as your source….. Well I think we all know what that means.
I would like to find more great internet sources for sports info please leave a comment with the address of your favorite sports sites.

cool post. I personally start my day off with prosportsdaily.com.
yeah I used to work on it and know the guy who created it but it still is what I use for daily news so I am not just trying to plug it.
espn podcasts, I don't watch sportscenter as much (not enough time), rss feeds though..those are the best
Espn.com, ballhype, rss feeds, local newspaper, some Sportscenter (like Kevin, not enough time for much), sports radio!
Another handy little tool that you no doubt already use is news.google.com
