Another PageRank Update from Google

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Posted 9/30/08

We were gone all weekend and had no idea that Google dished out its latest PageRanks!  It is a good thing Cuzzy let us know last night, otherwise, we could have gone for days without actually noticing.  Luckily for us, our PageRank jumped up to a 4!  Woohoo!

Of course PageRanks seems to be less and less important these days with the overall focus from many measures really being the key to success on your blog.  In fact, as our Alexa rating has dropped, we have a seen a lot more activity through sponsors and potential advertisers than when our PageRank changes.

Anyone notice a significant increase or decrease?  Anyone completely disappointed from this update?

I definitely noticed more of a difference via alexa. since my alexa has been dropping I've been receiving quite a few emails from various sports betting sites that I rarely ever got before.

who knows the alexa factor might be a reason why google keeps rushing these PR updates

I also went from a 3 to a 4.

I dropped from 3 to 2. I was a bit surprised, but then again I launched a completely different design within that time frame plus I got a bunch of links from the Carnival just before the update that probably weren't factored in. It's ironic though as I'm ranking higher and higher for "fantasy basketball" despite this.

Hoops, It probably had a little to do with your redesign. Any major change can affect the way Google looks at your site.

Last time I dropped from a 3 to a 1, and now somehow, I've dropped to a 0.

Anyone have any guesses why?

Went from 0 to 3. But the blog is new, so this is actually our first ranking. Not too bad for a new blog I figure.

Not bad at all. I always seem to start a blog right after Google has updated their rankings so I have to wait the entire quarter before I see one. Unfortunate.
