Some of you may have seen the Sitepoint link or the actual Entrecard blog last week listing that it was up for sale. The owner ran through some sort of feel good or sob story on how big Entrecard had become and how he could no longer handle it. He also spouted off about the next owner and how he'd make sure that the person was on the same page as him and the future of Entrecard would not be in doubt!
Well the sad story only lasted for a day as the site was basically pulled from Sitepoint and a new feel good story was written on the Entrecard blog. This time, with the owner talking about the horrible situation of Entrecard and how he was in it for the long run.
My guess? Entrecard wasn't actually worth what he thought. He claims he was conctacted by numerous business development folks interested in the site, but turned into an eye opening experience ending in his decision to keep the site.
Good for him if he really thinks Entrecard is a site that will stick around through the long run, but if I were him, I would have taken the $500K and ran with it!
Anyone still using Entrecard? And if so, has anything changed for the better or is it the same ol' schtick?

I'm taking the free 20 crappy visitors per day, but am not doing anything with it actively.
I'm with you there...using a the free traffic that steadily pours in. And of course still handing out free advertising.
it is still overrun with poopy blogger blogs and I really don't give any of my time to it anymore.
it is good for new blogs to get a little traffic but after that, jump ship and spend your ctrl w time elsewhere.
EntreCard blows. It's full of awful blogs (mostly from the Philippines) that seem to be in competition over how many ads and affiliate links they can place on their front page.
There are way more productive ways to spend your online time. EntreCard doesn't send quality traffic, only people who will click a box and leave.
I'm not quite sure what is going on at EntreCard but it's looking quote unprofessional to me.
The site is definitely on its way down if you ask me. They should have sold it.
My question is, did they actually think it would last?
