Part 6 - Close the “Deal”!
Your contest has run its course! After finding sponsors, deciding on a format, promoting like mad, and then promoting even more, hopefully you hit that initial goal we talked about in part 1.
At this point you need to draw your winners (or however you decided to pick them) and release the winners to the world! If you asked contestants to subscribe to your feed via email during the contest, then hopefully you have a valid email address that can be used to inform your winners.
But don’t forget, you’ll also want to run a post making it clear to all participants that you have followed up on your promise to give every single prize away. (The last thing we want after this long haul is to come off shady in any shape or form.)
Your “winners” post is your last chance to:
1. Ask for more subscribers!
2. Remind readers of future and past contests!
3. Link to other successful posts!
4. Sell readers on products or services!
In each step of your contest, you should be looking to increase your chances on reaching that initial goal and this last step should not be overlooked and could be your most powerful.
Thanks for taking part in our contest series and look for a possible PDF version soon! Maybe you can give it away at Christmas or something…
