With our new venture, Blaze of Love just getting underway, this seemed like a great time to walk through a simple checklist for anyone starting out with a new blog. This checklist should also give some of you new bloggers a look at some ideas or steps you may have missed or skipped along the way.
1. Decide your niche.
2. Pick a blogging platform.
3. Choose a domain.
4. Choose a template or theme.
5. Begin initial setup of widgets.
6. Install stat and analytics tracking scripts.
7. Write, write and write.
8. Start dreaming up "linkbaiting" pieces.
9. Let your close friends know.
10. Begin your search engine submissions.
11. Create an email list of blogs to notify.
12. Set up a feed.
13. Create an "about" page.
14. Create a "contact" page.
15. Create an "advertising" page.
16. Decide if you'd like to monetize your site.
17. Then decide on your money making programs.
18. Join Technorati.
19. Ask to join the YardBarker Network.
20. Don't join Entrecard.

What's up with "no" entrecard? You put it on the list of 80 blogging tips but now have taken it off the list. Are we missing something?

The service will have little positive long term effects on a blog. It may provide some steady traffic, but it is traffic that is useless to you.
I think bloggers should take the time to generate real traffic rather than hoping for a big Entrecard day.
Those tips were done months ago, and I've definitely changed my opinion since then.
I was surprised you didn't mention ballhype
There is sort of a "part 2" to come. :)
